This system is an online immigration program that allows you to create an online profile after which you will be placed in a pool with other candidates where each candidate will be ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and given a score as against CRS cut-off score.
For you to qualify for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence, your score has to meet or exceed the CRS cut-off score. Your score is given based on some criteria like age, work experience, education, provincial nomination, etc.
Now let’s look at the two main programs under the Express Entry System that can help you immigrate to Canada from the U.K
The Canadian Experience Class
The UK to Canada Immigration Program: due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the world, many countries have put a pause to immigration into their countries but Canada is not slowing down as the government has an agenda of inviting over 1million people to Canada from 2021 to 2023 to make up for what happened during the pandemic and get the economy back and running better than it was before the pandemic. Like we have mentioned the criteria for having a CRS score when you go through the Express Entry System and in addition to those criteria, you must also have the ability to adapt and settle in Canada but how are you going to do this if you have not been to Canada before. Well this Canadian Experience Class was created to help skilled foreign workers get permanent Canadian residence and you can do this if you have the following:
- A work experience in Canada
- Education or training
- A job offer in Canada
- High language fluency in English or French

The UK to Canada Immigration Program – The Provincial Nominee Program
This program is another great way to immigrate to Canada and it is not under the Express Entry Program. The program is run by each of the 13 provinces in Canada and they set their own requirements based on the needs of the province. The provinces use this platform to invite foreigners to come to fill up job positions in the province based on the occupations that are in demand in the province and country.
The program allows the province to select candidates from the Express Entry Pool and nominate them to receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence. With the provincial nomination program, you can get 400-600 CRS points and will surely guarantee you to receive an Invitation to Apply if you get some additional points from other criteria like (age, language proficiency, work experience, etc.) to beat the CRS cut-off score which may be around 700-900points.
So for someone that has 600points from provincial nomination, getting 200points to beat the cut-off mark of 700points can be easy provided you meet the other criteria.
