Global Excellence Scholarships 2022/2023 – About University College Dublin
Global Excellence Scholarships 2022/2023: University College Dublin is a public research university in Dublin, Ireland, and a member institution of the National University of Ireland. With 33,284 students, the university is Ireland’s largest university, and amongst the most notable universities in the country. Five Nobel Laureates are among the university’s alumni and current and former staff.
The university originates in a body established in 1854, which opened as the Catholic University of Ireland on the Feast of Saint Malachy and with John Henry Newman as its first rector; it also re-formed in 1880 and chartered in its own right in 1908.
The Universities Act, 1997 renamed the constituent university as the National University of Ireland, Dublin, and a ministerial order of 1998 renamed the institution as University College Dublin – National University of Ireland, Dublin.
The University College Dublin is originally situated at St Stephen’s Green in the Dublin city center, and all faculties have since relocated to a 133-hectare (330-acre) campus at Belfield, four kilometers to the south of the city center.
In 1991, the university purchased a second site in Blackrock. This currently houses the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. In the 2022 QS World University Rankings, the University College Dublin was rated 173rd in the world.
The 2020 QS World University Rankings for employability and reputation rate the University College Dublin as 1st in Ireland and 78th in the world.
The 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings placed the university in the range of 251–300. It also rated 35th in the 2020 Impact Rankings and 25th in the Impact Ranking, Industry.
In addition, the QS Subject Ranking: Veterinary Science, 2018 rated University College Dublin 24th globally and 1st in Ireland. The 2022 U.S. News & World Report rated the university as the 2nd best university in Ireland and 244th globally.
The University College Dublin’s Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School is rated 21st in the Financial Times’ ranking of leading European Business Schools in 2019.
The business school’s Masters in International Management is rated 8th in the world. The University College Dublin was The Sunday Times University of the Year in 2006 and 2020
Worth of Global Excellence Scholarships
All successful candidates are awarded 100% Global Excellence Tuition Fee Scholarship and 50% Global Excellence Tuition Fee Scholarship.
Eligibility for Global Excellence Scholarships
- Each candidate must be African, a current resident of an African country, and classified as non-EU for tuition fee and application purposes to be qualified for the scholarship.
- The Global Excellence Scholarships is open to all successful candidates qualified full-time, taught programs who are citizens of and residents in Africa.
- Qualified programs are limited to those that are undergraduate and graduate taught programs, where the student must be based in Dublin and no part of the program is awarded by another institution.
- You must be self-funding and classified as non-EU for tuition fee and application purposes.
- Each applicant must have a conditional offer, accept, or have conditional accept status associated with their application to be eligible for Global Excellence Scholarships.
